Alison Maria Krauss (born July 23 1971) is an American bluegrass country singer and musician. Alison Krauss started her musical career at a young age and was a winner of local contests by the age of 10. The singer-songwriter recorded her first recording at the age fourteen. The year 1985 saw her enrolled with Rounder Records and in 1987 released her debut solo album. She was a part of the group who she still performs, Alison Krauss Union Station. The group released their debut album in 1989.
